I’ve got a Thursday/Friday agenda!

Hipsters, go:

Thursday … 6-8pm: Tribeza happy hour at Valentine’s Too (3801 N Capital of Texas Hwy in Davenport Village). Complimentary hors d’oeuvres, desserts, and wine from Davenport Liquor plus prizes including gift certificates to the Four Seasons Hotel and Viva Chocolato make for an excellent evening/shopping affair

Providing for Paws … 6-8:30pm: A new real estate agency, The Boutique Real Estate, is hosting Providing for Paws tonight at Lofty Dog on 2nd Street. Bring your pet and a donation to the Town Lake Animal Shelter, then enjoy apps, wine, music, a raffle, and a goody bag for you and your pup! RSVP to rsvp@theboutiquerealestate.com

[ps keep Thursday, July 17th open for Happy Hour at Pangea ...]

Friday:

do512 Bacardi Mash-Up … 6-9pm: I don’t know when or where the term mash-up became so cool, but if it involves fun people hanging out in an office, spilling out into the parking lot to the tunes of a DJ, I’m down for mashing. Mojitos and pizza will be served.

Buzios Room Grand Opening … 7-10pm: The new lounge above Copa has seemingly been open for awhile, but is nonetheless hosting its Grand Opening with free South American cocktails and appetizers. You supposedly had to RSVP, but … Friday night is also Ladies Night, when all signature drinks are half price, so even if you’re not on the list, you’re drinking on the cheap.

Gotta Love Tribeza: Another Event Tonight!

Tonight TRIBEZA magazine hosts the launch of their Downtown Guide at Maiko tonight from 6-8pm.

Pick up a copy tomorrow night at Maiko Sushi Lounge as we celebrate the launch of the Summer 2008 Edition.

Date: Tuesday, June 24th
Time: 6:00PM – 8:00PM
Location: Maiko Sushi Lounge, 311 West 6th Street [ map ]

I’m assuming there will be free sushi and drinks, because that’s what these things are about, so I’m definitely planning on stopping by!

Plus, Maiko has some really good, creative rolls. And I don’t know about Tuesdays, but they have all-day happy hour Sunday and Monday, where you can get some really great rolls for just $5 each.

TRIBEZA is at it again (as they are every month), with a Happy Hour this Thursday at Adelante.

The Uptown District has some of the best shopping, dining, and art in the city. Join us this Thursday as we head to the 26 Doors Shopping Center for our Happy Hour at Adelante boutique. Complimentary food and drinks will be served while DJ Troy Raw spins on the turntables. Also, Rae Cosmetics will introduce their summer products that guests will have a chance to try out.

Date: Thursday, June 19th
Time: 6:00PM – 8:00PM
Location: Adelante Boutique , 1206 W. 38th Street, in the 26 Doors Shopping Center

Also happening tonight is Shady Grove Unplugged, the restaurant’s Thursday night free music series. This is its fifteenth season! Tonight is BOB SCHNEIDER, a local fave. Kissinger opens.

Show starts at 8pm. Drink specials are $2 Zeigenbocks and $3 pints of Bud Light. Pro tip: put a KGSR sticker on your car for KGSR CD Singles.

Luckily for music-loving shoppers, you can hit Adelante for some clothes and apps, then head to Shady Grove for music and dinner! It’s a lovely Austin evening.

Tribeza Summer Bash at Bridges on the Park

The mags are all throwing events this week (Rare’s $20/person party on Sunday, Austin Monthly’s hosting of the grand opening of Home Enchanted home store today?), but were I in town–I’m headed to NYC in less than an hour–I’d want to go to this one. Who doesn’t want to check out some downtown development, try a new menu, snack on cupcakes, and drink green tea vodka? All sounds like some of my favorite things. Tribeza’s description & details

Networking on Wednesday

So this Wednesday night at Pangaea is Net Party, a partying/networking hybrid. Not that it sounds all that different from normal networking functions to me, except that it draws a different sort of crowd. Apparently it’s quite the singles scene, as well, so business cards are exchanged as much for dates as they are for lead generation.

Pangaea is an interesting club to me … I’ve only been to their grand opening (open bar …) and a few hosted events there, so I’ve never witnessed it in its regular-weekend glory. Does it have regular-weekend glory? It was quite controversial when it showed up on the Austin scene, mainly because detractors argued that Austin didn’t need or wasn’t ready for a hoity-toity place with a velvet rope, sparklers in their bottle service, and cage dancers. Of course, those detractors failed to realize that outside of need and readiness lie want and novelty, so Pangaea has so far been successful–depending on how you define success.

I prefer cheaper drinks and friendlier people, but a dressed-up night out at Pangaea isn’t unappealing either. And the time frame of this NetParty–6:00 to 10:00pm–makes it a nice tweener time that could stay happy hour or turn into a night on the town … with new friends, natch! FYI, the half-price drinks and free apps are only until 8pm.

I’m not sure when they close the RSVP, but you have to RSVP to get in free. There’s a $25 charge at the door (or so they say … I can’t imagine anyone charging $25 for a HAPPY HOUR).

AND:

Tribeza is also hosting a happy hour at Lambert’s with free apps and live music. There will be drinks too, but no telling if they’re free or not.

Too many options Thursday!

So many events, so little time. Thursdays are hot in the ATX! (literally and figuratively, natch)

Top Billing: Sago Modern Mexican opening!

6:00-7:30pm … Sponsored by Austin Monthly and featuring free apps and martinis, the launch of this new restaurant in the Triangle should be an awesome event.

Others:

Austin Monthly is also hosting a trunk show/event at Ven Shoe & Handbag Salon … I didn’t know mags were allowed to sponsor TWO events in one night, but nonetheless, this event runs from 6-9 with apps by Imperia and cocktails, plus DJ Jericho One.

Tribeza magazine’s monthly happy hour at Shiki & Eliza Page

6:00-8:00pm … Free hors d’oeuvres and wine by TASTE Select wines, Delish Cupcakes, Tito’s Vodka, and Dry Soda. Make a purchase and enter to win a $100 spa gift certificate!

Estilo‘s “Through the Looking Glass” Spring Fashion Show

7:00-10:00 … a fanciful Alice in Wonderland take. Features a fashion show where the cocktails flow–made with 42 Below–and all the fashionistas go! 42 Below vodka drinks will be accompanied by catering by Suzanne Court.

Q: [sigh] What’s a hipster to do with so much to do??

A: … I’ll be at Sago! Look for a review tomorrow.
