The Perfect Jeweled Sandals (Confession: I Bought Them)

Fibi & Clo sandals

I mean, how could I resist? They’re unique with the swoop of jewel, the perfect dressy or casual flat summer sandals. With shorts they sass up a look; with a fancy dress they blend in perfectly and keep your feet comfy. Guess how much they cost? $45.

AND if you head to fibiandclo.com to order them, and enter “Lyssa” in the referral code box, they’ll include a free piece of jewelry with your order!

What’s Fibi & Clo? Well because it’s fabulous, naturally it has an Austin connection. Founder AnaLiza Alba was born in Corpus Christi, but graduated from The University of Texas at Austin before moving to Manhattan. Though living in New York was her dream, she yearned for an idea that would get her home without getting in the way of a career she loved.

So one day at brunch, inspiration struck: she would develop a line of sandals that she could take to Texas for trunk shows—like tupperware parties, but with shoes. “I realized what a great time I was having at brunch, and that an atmosphere where you are surrounded by friends and food is not only perfect brunching atmosphere, but also perfect for shopping.” Fibi & Clo (the names of her two cats) was born, and with the Smoke Cascade sandal, she’s found a winner. Plus, Lucky mag raved over her fabulous but cheap summer sandals!

Thanks to Lindley at Korcula for the find, and check out the other shoes Lindley mentions in her summer staples post:Slip on sneakers

Love! Bensimon Elastique slip-ons. $58.

Take a SXSW Break to Shop for Freewaters

When all the hipsters invade town (I’m looking at you, MUSIC festival), inevitably TOMS take over the streets. What’s more hipster than donating a pair of shoes to a barefoot kid somewhere else in the world while rocking the UGLIEST shoes known to man? (Even the wedges are ugly, and I really, really tried to believe they were cute.) Yes, I like golden sparkles and batik prints too, but the shoe is STILL UGLY.

Anyway, the point of this post was really positive, not to pee in the TOMS cheerios. A new line of sandals is launching called Freewaters, and they’re sassy flips that also donate drinking water for an entire year to someone in need of clean water!

Freewaters sandals

How adorable are these?? The sandals offer a “Fit Perfect Design” to fit the foot instantly (click here for the nerdy details, Interactives). This style is only $36, a solid version is only $26. Cheap for a pair of flips for you and water for someone for a FULL YEAR! Women’s sandals in leather run up to $80; men’s sandals run $26-$100.

Finally, bar stools!

Bar stools

Isn’t she a beaute? We finally got two barstools, after ordering what we thought was a set but was really just a table back in OCTOBER (remember me talking about wanting a fab bar-height table?). Better late than never, right? A downside to living in Aspen, garage-saleing isn’t what it is in Austin.

We ended up ordering the stools from the CSN Stores site allbarstools.com, which features adjustable bar stools and these bar-height cushioned ones, which were a great deal with free shipping.

I so prefer working at the high bar table to my messy, crowded desk!

MORE MORE MORE Deal Sites!

Can you even keep up? Over the holidays, my mom turned me on to two more sites–MorgansDeals and TheLunchDeal.com, plus I just heard about CrowdSavings.com.

I’m going to totally nerd out on you (again) about these flash-sale sites. The things is, they’re awesome. Yes. But they’re a really, really interesting product of our unique place in financial history–no one has any money, but everyone is used to spending it, so they can buy these half-off deals and save money while getting to enjoy their same lifestyle–and it’s intersecting the social media storm plus running into the thrill of the chase/hunt/sale, the rush customers get when they get a “Steal!”.

And like my post (in July of 2009) after post (LivingSocial) after post after post, post, post, and post reveals, there is no end in sight to the new sites–some with unique niches, like TheLunchDeal.com, some as general as hyperlocal (ha), like CrowdSavings.com.

I’m certainly not complaining, as I’ve shared with you guys before that not only have I used and loved the deals sites, I have gotten some great credit for referrals–thanks for signing up via my links!

The second half of this infographic from Web Analytics World is far more interesting than the first, so scroll down.

More on EverSave

It’s no secret that living, even part time, in Aspen is expensive. One of the funniest things about it is shopping online … when you don’t have the same access to stores that you do in Austin, you gotta shop somewhere!

So lately I’ve been loving EverSave’s online deals (you know I knew about them first, right?). You may have seen my tweets, and it may look like I am slightly out of control. While I love the Groupon hyper-local deals (I’m coming to eat you, Snap Kitchen!), I have also started to really love EverSave‘s online ones. Case in point:

Designer Chatter

Today’s Save:$35 for $75 worth of deeply discounted designer denim, handbags, shoes and more at DesignerChatter.com

Expires 03:00 AM – Dec 14, 2010

Plus you get free shipping.

This is a big one, because I ordered a wine.com deal and it didn’t come with free shipping. I put a $10 bottle of wine in my cart, shipping was $12. Are you for real?! It went on like this until I gave up and ordered wine glasses (stemless!) because they were the cheapest to ship and we need some anyway.

I digress. Shop online. You can do it anywhere, even a lil mountain town buried in snow. Cheaper with eversave (and I get $. Let’s not forget about that. But I clearly immediately spend it on more eversaves).
