Who am I?

lyssa:

I used to write a blog just about life in Austin, Texas. Then I started spending more and more time in Aspen, Colorado, and I wanted to start writing about life there too. So, now I am someone who is totally into the Austin AND Aspen scenes, be it sports and outdoors, streets and beats, or restaurants and bars. I’m going to share all the cool things I do and see with whoever wants to read, so then everyone else gets to do the cool things I do!

what is this blog?

This blog is everything I think is cool in Austin or Aspen. A day or two before interesting events, I’ll post–any further notice and you (and I) will forget it’s happening. I also post about anything else that’s cool, so you know what things to do, buy, listen to, or eat all the time.

I know this can get confusing, so each post will be marked Austin: or Aspen: before its title, so if you don’t care about one or the other, just ignore it. Each will OBVIOUSLY still contain my sparkling wit and matchless insight into what to do and what’s hot in BOTH towns. Awesome!

  3. I am a big fan of this webpage and well, after all the volleyball (and the master cleanse!) comments I started to wonder, “do I know the girlie that writes all this wondrous info?!”

Well, yes, I do! So, Miss Lyssa, just wanted to bring a little love to your page and tell you just how much I appreciate it! I read it weekly! : )

    Love ya!

  5. I just visited Austin a few months ago–for SXSW–for the very first time. I absolutely fell in love with the city. What a fantastic downtown scene, and it seems the area has a really great “be who you wanna be” vibe.

I totally dig it, and am looking forward to getting back sometime soon.

  6. Hi there,

I am 26, and a native Texan, but grew up in midwest. i live in switzerland with my new husband. i’ve longed to live in texas, and specifically austin (born there) and amazingly, we are moving there early next year! i really appreciate your blog -it is the only resource i have found so far that gives me an idea of what lifestyle is like, what activities i have to look forward to (i’ve forwarded ten things already to my husband to look forward to that we dont have here).. please keep writing!
as an idea, since lots of people want to move to austin, maybe you could post a post (err…) like the top 10 things to know about austin. or did you already and i missed it? :)
    keep it up, great blog.

  7. Hey,
Its the juice guy who served you on that boat party. Thanks for the review! I thought you might like to know Daily Juice is opening its 3rd location, this one’s got parking, restrooms, seating, and food. Lots of organic, living foods. A whole cafe menu. With amazing raw desserts. Our new spot is on the corner of 45th and Duval St. In north central Austin.

    Thanks again for the review.
See at the next boat party?
    Keith

  8. Hey Lyssa,

So when will you be blogging professionally?? I mean, you have a writing style that just exudes high income. The only entries I don’t like are those of that Greg Vendetti guy…I hear he’s a douche. Other than that, keep it up!

  9. hi- i am helping a friend who is setting up her blog about austin and was writing to ask permission to grab an article or two off you rss feed to publish on her site with full attributions to you and your website as well and a link back to you.

  16. Lyssa,
What a great blog! I just discovered you and I’m so excited about what I’m seeing. Great job keeping up with events and such and I love your style.

    Regards-

  17. Hey! As I do enjoy your site I must comment on the ‘fashion sticky notes’ section to the side– i agree with your take on banded bottom dress (horrible!!) and on gladiator sandals with so many straps you might as well be wearing boots and/or socks but i must disagree, totally disagree, with your no shorts at night or with heels!! the key to wearing shorts at night is to make sure they are not so tight as to look like spandex or so short your a** is hanging out (hello stripper)!! correctly fitted shorts paired with the right heel can look and is incredibly stylish and flattering!!!!

  18. Hey Lyssa,

This is a sweet blog :) On break from College in Waco and would love to make some new friends while I’m here.

  19. Hey Lyssa!

I appreciate the review. I just wanted to note that it is Good Eating as opposed to Eating Good. (Yes, it was a play on my last name!) I know the folks at Delicious very well and I agree, their food is fabulous! Good Eating was designed with long term goals in mind, as opposed to dinner for two. I try to help people reconnect with proper portion sizes and how to eat healthy on a regular basis.

Thanks again for the review and I hope you have a wonderful New Year!!

    Melissa Good

  22. Hi Lyssa-
I represent the Texas Department of Agriculture Wine Marketing Program. Thanks for sharing the list of award-winning Texas wines. While the wines listed above won in the Texas-based competitions, these competitions are international competitions, with wines from all over the world competing for top honors. Texas wines also fared well at the San Francisco International Wine Competition and other competitions hosted outside of Texas. Thanks for your support of Texas wines!

  23. Thanks for your support!! That made my day.
