		<description><![CDATA[As someone who started as a newspaper reporter and is now an avid blogger, I can see the need for outlining an ethical code. Not just for receiving free stuff, but also for how blogs are written and reported. I constantly see other local bloggers stealing content and not attributing the source when it&#039;s obvious that they didn&#039;t do the legwork themselves. On the other hand, the libertarian in me cringes whenever the gov&#039;t wants to get involved in speech issues, especially relating to the Internet.

Also, I write CD reviews. It&#039;s custom for all media to receive CDs for free. The Statesman doesn&#039;t send an intern to Waterloo to buy the newest releases every Tuesday. And it doesn&#039;t stop Pitchfork from tearing apart every CD that comes across its desk.]]></description>
