A lot of people like the sound of rain. Here are my five favorite sounds:
1. Cleats on pavement
2. Basketball through a chain link net
3. Waves
4. Laughter
5. Traffic rushing by overhead when you’re under a bridge
What are yours?

1. That singular sound that I’ve heard ONLY in Texas, when the wind whips up and you think, “The storm is coming.”
2. Mike Ness’ cranky vocal stylings, esp. on the lyrics “We’re not punished for our sins, but by them” from “Crime Don’t Pay.”
3. Popcorn popping.
4. The crinkle of notebook paper covered in writing from a ballpoint pen.
5. The painfully sweet melody of Bach’s “Air on a G String.” http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WZXM2eq46_s
1. my mom’s voice
2. a heartbeat
3. the sounds a puppy makes in its sleep
4. the crunch of leaves beneath your feet
5. breaking glass
In no particular order:
1. Bamboo wind chimes
2. My Pomeranian, Clyde, howling like a hound dog
3. The screaming laughter of my niece, Isabella
4. Typing on a typewriter
5. The wind blowing through a leafy tree
- My kids laughing
- Camera shutter
- Fireworks launching (before the pop)
- Rain on the roof
- Ceiling fan
I do like the basketball sound, if it’s a nylon net. And the train on a bridge overhead.
I love the sound of moving water. any liquid really. Whether its the creek behind the house or some champagne being poured into a glass. I love the sounds of liquid on the go.
