If you’ve only got a weekend (or a friend in town you want to show a good time), here are my picks, from Friday night through Sunday afternoon:
Of course I love a million other things about Austin, but these are my standards: the go-to places and things to do that locals and out-of-towners alike love.
1) Dinner at TRIO ($$$), Olivia ($$) or Guero’s ($)
2) Downtown – Walk dirty 6th for the experience (and maybe a Lat30 jaeger bomb), but party at 5th & Congress–start at Lanai and work your way down to end the night at Marq
3) Run/walk Town, er, Lady Bird Lake
5) Patio lunch at Hula Hut (free range chicken!) or Shady Grove
6) Take a boat out on Lake Austin
7) Dinner & a movie at Alamo Drafthouse (Guinness milkshake!!!)
8 ) Sunday brunch at Moonshine
9) Shopping on South Congress, coffee at Jo’s (celeb-spotting?)
10) A cupcake a Sugar Mama’s
