Heroes for Children has quietly begun work in Austin at the Dell Children’s Hospital.
Heroes for Children is a Dallas-based nonprofit that provides financial and social assistance to families with children battling cancer. Financial assistance can be anything from rent or mortgage payments to cash, while social assistance includes the Laptops for Love program, the Heroes Milestones program that celebrates Sweet Sixteens, proms, and other important life events, and the Holiday Heroes program that brings the holidays to families in hospitals.
Events to raise money for the group include its signature Heroes & Handbags, a Golf Classic, a 5K Run/Walk, and a Hold ‘Em for Heroes poker tournament. As the group spends more and more time with families in Austin, it hopes to gather local support and eventually start fundraisers and more programming here. To get involved, click here.
