Snow Pea Bento Box

I had a lovely day in my Brykerwoods neighborhood! I woke up and took a nice little jaunt with the pup to the Starbucks inside the Randall’s, where I bought a Venti Soymilk Sugar Free Cinnamon Dolce Latte (yes, I’m a pain) to enjoy while I worked on some articles.

A few hours later, I called in an order to Snow Pea, on Jefferson at 35th, and walked over for a delicious Snow Pea sushi bento box lunch, while I continued to work on said articles.

It was beyond delicious. The bento box came with a little salad (with delish dressing, not that weird vinegar-egg-but-somehow-orange dressing they normally put on salads with sushi), a little eggroll, and then I chose two sushi rolls: a Dragon and a Rainbow. Both of the rolls were exceptional: fresh and perfectly put together where the fish really shone through the ingredients.

You’d think not too many people know about Snow Pea because it seems never, ever to be busy. But they had a sign on their door saying they’d been named Best Chinese Food and Best Sushi by someone in 2008, so obviously people do know about it. It’s been my mom’s restaurant of choice for her birthday the last four or so years running, which is saying a lot–she generally sticks to Fresh Choice and Magnolia, where she can get healthy food. She’s not a sushi fan, she loves their Chinese.

Snow Pea has a pretty sweet sushi happy hour too (maybe this is what’s crowded?) from 5-7pm Mon-Fri, rolls from $3-7, drinks from $1 and up. I can’t wait to try it …

  1. Hi there! I came across your blog a couple weeks ago! I love finding local bloggers!!!! Anyway, just had to comment when I saw your post about SnowPea…. When I lived in the north-of-campus area, that was my faaaaavorite place to eat. Alas now I’m so far south that I never make it out there anymore, but now might have to as you have me craving it again :)

  2. Gosh, I live really close to there, have seen it a million times, and have never been in. I’m going to check it out.

  3. This is wonderful! My room mate and I were just wondering where we could find a good Chinese delivery joint in our new neighborhood. Thanks for posting! Very helpful.

  4. Thanks for the recommendation. I went there tonight with my 4 year old (who eats like a high school football player) during Sushi Happy Hour – all sushi 1/2 price. I usually fear inexpensive sushi, but it was good. The boy ate like a king, and I could still afford to buy a slice of cake at Russell’s afterward.
