Lash Extensions? I want Texas-sized Lashes

I’ve long lusted for Texas-sized lashes. If I don’t have mascara on, you sort of wonder if I haven’t gotten enough sleep or if I’m sick. I don’t look awful, but I don’t look good. Over Halloween I got to experiment with fake lashes (the little three-lash pieces you glue on your own eye) and loved the results, but it’s too time-consuming to be practical for every day use.

Well, now I hear milk + honey is offering semi-permanent eyelash extensions for a super glam mascara look with beautiful, natural looking  lashes.  BettyLash has been offering the service for awhile too, but it’s expensive!

They say:

Lash extensions will stay on until your real lashes naturally shed and regrow. With quick, monthly touch ups not only will you have beautiful lashes 24/7, but you also won’t have to wear mascara again.

From both places, there are various levels that range from tiny to HUGE and GLAM. milk + honey breaks theirs down like this:

Lush: a practical, natural, every day look. The application will take about 2 hours. $250, which includes your first 30-minute touch up to be scheduled within 2 weeks of initial application.

Glama Rama: a dramatic, full, thick, run-way look. This application will take 2.5-3 hours $350.00, which includes your first 30 minute touch up to be scheduled within 2 weeks of initial application.

Touch-ups: $50 for 30 min. $100 for an hour. Touch-Ups are recommended every two to three weeks in order to maintain your lashes. Touch-Ups are also available in a series of 4 for a 10% discount.

Has anyone tried this? Is it worth it? Say I went with a $350 GLAMOUROUS application, then touch-ups every three weeks (poor!), in a year I would spend roughly $916.67. Are beautiful eyes all the time worth $916.67?

  1. I’ve actually been considering doing this. I saw it advertised at a new salon http://www.trashyroots.com/ for $150 initially. If others have any experience, please post your results! I’ve been seriously thinking about it and wonder how durable they are. Can you use eye makeup remover, etc.? Are there any drawbacks??

    Thanks for the great blog!

  2. I have an advertised special in Austin Monthly for January & February’s issue-$100 off a Full Set of eyelash extensions (so that makes a full set $250), or any Permanent Make-up procedure.

Yes, they can be an investment at first, touch ups every 2 weeks at $60 isn’t bad. To top it off….to have them on is amazing!!! Wake up, throw some blush and lip gloss on and you are done. I do an amazing job if I don’t mind saying so myself. I impress myself many times daily. Perfect lashes is all I will settle for. You can’t beat perfect, can you?
