FREE sushi & sake at Imperia!

It sounds too good to be true, which is why I’m giving you such advance notice. Thursday July 3rd, Imperia introduces SUSHI to its already award-winning offerings. From 6-8, the restaurant will be serving complementary sushi and sake. I’ll be there.

I haven’t been to Imperia, though it’s definitely on my list of want-to-go-there places. Opened by the owner of Speakeasy (I briefly bartended there back in the day, so I’m partial) & Cuba Libre, it has won a number of reader’s choice awards, including Best New Restaurant & Chef from statesman.com’s A-List (who also voted Qua for favorite bar, so I can’t give those voters too much credit) and Best New Restaurant, Service & Waitstaff, and Asian Restaurant by the Austin Chronicle Readers (I put more faith in that, but only a little bit more).

While going to this Grand Opening of Sushi won’t give me a taste of the rest of the food, I am very curious to check out the atmosphere. The chef hails from Tao, the infamous Vegas nightclub/restaurant in the Venetian, so I have to imagine there’s some flare to the place to get him to move here for it.

Mark your calendar now: JULY 3rd, 6pm-8pm, 310 Colorado.

  1. I saw an ad that said the free sushi and sake at Imperia was on July 1. Clarification?

  2. The ad (did you see it in RARE magazine?) does say July 1, but that’s a Tuesday, and subsequent advertising has said the event is July 3rd, which is a Thursday–a day that makes more sense as far as launching a new venture goes.
